Know your yarn weight

Fingering weight,
Fingering wight,also
known as Baby Weight, is a
fine yarn ideal for knitting
baby garments and socks.

Sport Weight
Sport Weight is a light
yarn suitable for knitting
non-bulky items such as
gloves, mittens and light
sweaters.

Double Knitting Weight,
Double Knitting Weight,
also referred to as DK
Weight, is a light-to-medium
weight yarn
that produces slightly
heavier items than
Sport Weight.

Knitting Worsted Weight,
Knitting Worsted Weight also
called Worsted Weight and Aran
Weight, is the most common yarn
weight. Not only is it easy for
beginners to work with, but its
medium-to-heavy weight makes
it perfect for knitting garments,
accessories and afghans.

Bulky Weight, also called Chunky
Weight, as its name implies, is a
thick yarn which is growing in
popularity. You can use Bulky
Weight yarn and larger needles to
knit blankets and scarves quickly.

Extra-bulky Weight, also called
Super-bulky, Very Bulky and
Gigantic, is the thickest yarn of all.
Like Bulky Weight, its heavy weight
makes it easy to knit blankets,
coats and hats very quickly.
